Here’s Eight (8) googling tips that you probably don’t know

– Dashes

If you want to exclude a term from your search, include a hyphen before the word.

Examples: Manchester-football

You just want Manchester the place not Manchester the football club.

~ Tilde

Use tilde when you want synonyms to appear in the result.

Examples: Music ~classes

Here you only get music classes, lessons, coaching etc

.. Two periods

Use two periods to search  with two(2) number ranges

Example: movies 2022..2022

Filetype:

Filter by a certain file type related to your search.

Example: Barrack Obama filetype:pdf

This filter out all the click baits news Barrack Obama news article you don’t want to read.

Location:

Find news related to a particular location.

Example: Elon Musk location:sanfrancisco

“Quotation Marks”

Put quotes around a search term to let you search exactly for that word

All results will have your term in it

Example: “James Bond”

Gives you all James Bond search results without just “James” or just “Bond”.

| Vertical Bar

This query will search websites that have any one/two/all of the terms.

Same purpose as OR

Examples: Disney | pocahunters | walt

Disney OR pocahunters OR walt

Site:

Use this operator to search within a specific website only

Example: site:cnv.com

This would only search the website cnv.com
